Photo Journal: 7/14/23 – 7/16/23

The weather was amazing this weekend and Crystal wasn’t feeling well, so I spent the weekend traveling to some of my local, favorite spots.

I started the weekend on Friday afternoon with a trip to Newport, Toledo, Elk City, Ollalo Lake, and South Beach. Then, Saturday, I went to Yachats to Smelt Sand Recreation Area and Heceta Head Lighthouse.

Closing the weekend out, I spent Sunday morning hiking part of the Amanda Trail in Cape Perpetua, an extraordinary place on the coast that is treated as a sacred space. You can learn more about it here, here, and here. Visitors leave offerings of sorrow, memories of joy, artifacts from their lives or loved one’s lives and handwritten notes about or to loved ones who have passed.
