I was finally able to get my bird training station set up. This is a temporary version made out of scrap wood I had in the shop. This version will allow the corvids to get used to it and get comfortable with me being nearby with my camera. They will need to get accustomed to not only me sitting very nearby pointing my large lens at them but also the sound of the shutter’s rapid firing. I was able to get a few test shots today. I think I’ll also set up a tripod and put my longer lens on for some close-ups. So far the Steller’s Jay is taking most of the peanuts with the crows sitting on the top of a nearby tree watching. I need to somehow encourage the crows to come down and assert dominance, otherwise, this Jay is going to end up taking all the food. I placed some silver coins on the platform to try to entice the crows down.
